Pat, I think there is one of three things wrong, either father time has caught up with him, he is hidding an injury or he is out of shape. Valverde use to throw 96 m.p.h a year ago, last Sept it drop to 94 m.p.h and by the end of the playoff he was down to 92 m.p.h. He is already in the 92 to 93 m.p.h range. I think he will be better than lucky T Jones.
He'll be ok, last year was an anomaly. When you come up in the ninth, hitters are really focused, it's amazing what he did last year. He still has his stuff.
"Alarmingly, the Tigers have already lost five games in which they have led in the seventh inning or later. By contrast, they have won four games in which they have been tied or behind in the seventh inning or later." - Josh Worn
