Finally, we will know for sure about Drew Stanton

Drew Stanton may very well go down as the greatest quarterback in Lions' history - regardless of what transpires Sunday at Ford Field against the Chicago Bears.
Well, at least when it comes to preseason games.
He's played well as a third-stringer against other third-and-fourth stringers in exhibition games. In the regular season, it hasn't gone well. Just two touchdown passes. Seven interceptions. He was awful in his one start in '09 at San Francisco. There was that third-down play with the lead late in the Jets' game.
Here's another chance. Stanton is taking all the snaps with the first team this week. Shaun Hill is out. Matthew Stafford is far from ready. It's Stanton or bust vs. the Bears.
I'd like to see him do well. He is an Oakland County kid from Farmington Harrison High School. Do I expect him to do well? Not based on what I have seen in the regular season, although he has played a little better this season than in the past.
Stanton doesn't go through the progression of his reads quickly and naturally. He still has this tendency to just run at the first sign of trouble in the pocket. His pocket presence has been poor.
It will be interesting to see how the Bears approach Stanton. Rod Marinelli and Mike Martz obviously know all about him.

I think we all really know for sure what they have in Drew, he will make some plays with his legs, toss a few dying quails and in the end well I'm afraid we all know that also. Kid has guts and I am sure Peppers is licking his chops, just hope he lives through the game, I might be wrong, but I liked Stoney Case so what do I know.......

Just another glaring example of a Lions draft pick that made no sense whatsoever at the time - and still doesn't.

"Finally, we will know for sure..."

Um, I already know.

Rick Snares,
You were right, I think. Sunday, he did OK against Bears for half, but threw for just 35 yards in the second half. Cutler was 10-of-10 in second half. Lions can't win often with that happening at QB spot.

Anonymous,
Absolutely true. Can you imagine if they took David Harris instead?

Anonymous,
He has played better this season, but it's relative.

Is Stafford the answer, who knows, he is better than anyone that we have in the past, the injuries don't bother me that much, Aikman went through it early, same with Phil Sims
They need linebackers and some real corner backs, they are not as far away as some think. Stafford is the key he now has some legit weapons, and because his trowing windows are so much smaller than a lot of QB's, he is in love with his arm and he will always throw some picks, all QB's throw em, look at Peyton without the talent around him he has to force things and you see the result. How long will it take, have no idea, but as bad as they were they were worse than 0-16.
