Pat, I hope they pick a manager that believes in good fundamental baseball. No high risk guys so they don't do risking moves during the game. Tigers are a very good team so that don't need to gamble and take risk. You want to lose games because other team beat you, you don't want the manager lose you games on high risk moves or fundamentals. I would love to see Tram back but that ship I would say has sailed. It would be a righteous move though. Fans would probably give Tram a standing ovation.
Fans have been griping about baseball managers since the end of the American Civil war, and the subtle nuances of a managers decisions and action on his team are deeper and more impactful than any other sport.
I for one am a Jim Leyland fan and I am very sorry to see him go.
As for his replacement - the only name that even remotely comes close to re-engaging my enthusiasm after such a dissapointing ALCS is Tony Larusa - as all markers look like they were thinking this last year with Him being at Spring training and getting to know this team - so I hope that if he would actually entertain the thought, then the search should be over.
