Jimmy Howard: Better Than Good Enough

Jimmy Howard just keeps playing better and better. There is no way the Red Wings, based on the flow of the game, should have beaten the Kings Thursday night. Brilliant performance by Howard. Question is, can the Red Wings maintain a high level of play if Chris Osgood is worked back into the rotation? The Red Wings have so little margin for error right now.

Random Thoughts

- What could have been...In retrospect, Michigan State should have done everything possible to retain Nick Saban as head football coach. He has, after all, won two national titles since leaving MSU. So he was pain in the neck. The man wins - and wins big. And with Tom Izzo, the Spartans would have had arguably had the best football and basketball coaches in the nation.

- Haven’t the Lions seen enough of Drew Stanton and Daunte Culpepper? Please.

- Two things Izzo isn’t hearing these days:
Why he can’t win the Big Ten?
How come he can’t beat Bo Ryan?

I think everyone and myself included are taken back by how well Howard has played thus far. Anyone saying other wise is full of it. It will be interesting to see what happens come playoffs that is for sure. Do you stick with the guy who kept you in the race or do you go to the veteran and put him on a short leash, much like we did with that 08 cup and Hasek.. IF we had just a touch better play in front wings record would be better ..

U know book, I didn't comment on your HOF post. I think the 84 tigers are just out right getting screwed. I think Whitaker deserved way better then the 1 and done he got. I feel if Morgan got it so should he. Same with Trammell and Morriss. If Guys like Dawson and Ozzie Smith get in those guys are more then deserving. Not taking away from those cats, but those cats were hall of famers and dominant at their respected positions and for a winner for quite some time.

Pat,

Saban would have never won at MSU like he has at LSU & 'Bama. He may have won an odd Big Ten title here & there, but never a national championship because he wouldn't have signed the same level of talent he did with LSU & 'Bama. He may have got Mark Ingram to stay home, but that would be about it.
