Pat your a greater writer but the basketball was invented by the ex-Great White North. Those people found out they couldn't jump so they gave the game to America.

What time period are you thinking?
I know search engines says the first game was in 1891 using soccer ball, no dribbling allowed and the score was 1-0 in Mass. The origin or first steps towards basketball started in Ontario started in the late 1870s and 1880s. The 1891 game is so different from what is being played today. The 1880s version might have been different from 1891 game but that where it started.
Hockey, for example, was not invented in Canada, it was imported from Europe. Canada and US both promoted to where the game is today but the game was not invented in North America.
