I think one of the more strange things coming from Michigan fans in response to Michigan State's 8-0 record is the notion the Spartans are playing an easy schedule. This is one of the seasons when Ohio State isn't on MSU's schedule, a clear advantage. But it doesn't mean MSU has an easy schedule. Like Michigan, the Spartans had no idea Notre Dame would become so beatable. It's a rivalry game for MSU, too, and even more deeply rooted in its lore than Notre Dame-Michigan is. Actually, by far.
The Spartans did beat Wisconsin - and rather handily. Wisconsin is in the Top 10 in the BCS standings and has beaten both Ohio State and Iowa.
And this is coming from fans of a program who know full well how there are no sure-thing victories. Hey, remember the Appy State and Toledo games? Actually, Michigan is fortunate Indiana is on its schedule.

Pat,
Why do you constantly rip on Michigan and their fans? I enjoy reading your blog and articles, but this ripping on Michigan is very childish and it's getting old.
Yes, MSU has a cakewalk schedule this year. It has nothing to do with Michigan or it's fans. What Michigan's schedule was in the past also has no bearing on MSU's cakewalk of a schedule this year. It is what it is.
Michigan is a carppy team, MSU is a good team. Same like the basketball program. You guys finally got what you wanted - Michigan's sports program in the toilet. Enjoy your successful program instead of ripping on the little sister.
State may not play OSU, but they also don't get Indiana, so that's a wash. Michigan fans should stop whining. The reason State's schedule is "easy" isn't because OSU isn't on it, it's because Michigan is! Is anyone saying OSU has an easy schedule because they don't have to play MSU? Iowa plays OSU, MSU and Wisconsin but gets all 3 at home so that's an advantage for them. You can only play the games the scheduler gives you.
...He says with absolutely no bias.
Riiiiiiight.
Anonymous,
I'm not ripping anybody. I'm just discussing the dynamics of the rivalry. Maybe a little tongue in cheek at times, but that's a lot different than "ripping." Also, by the way, MSU fans get mad at me for ripping them. Comes with the territory of being impartial.

Jeff H,
It's grasping at straws by the Michigan fan base.

To me, the big block on the side of my helmet stands for straight down the middle.

How disappointing and sad it must be for you...and you don't even realize it. The school you clearly root for is having the season of its ages, with potential to be even better, and you STILL can't get Michigan out of your head.
You'll never really truly be able to enjoy a wonderous season like this, although you think you are, because you'll always be trying to somehow measure up.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over a few random fans barking about schedules and the ease of schedules. I also would draw sweeping generalizations as some fans on here are doing based on some random comments. MSU fans are so paranoid about Michigan and let UM fans get under their skin way too easily.
Steve G,
As a completely impartial observer, I must say Michigan State is dominating Michigan in both football and basketball. And that the schedule is not a factor as to why.

Trust me, the last thing I lose sleep over is the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry. It's fun, but not that serious. And honestly, I could care less who wins.

First, thanks for pointing out the obvious...nice work.
Second, I repeat, "You don't even realize it."
Pat, you ol' rascal you.
You just do these blogs to fire up the MSU or UM fans.
Interesting that the UM fans seem to be the most vocal (and emotional) and they used to be on the winning side.
You are a crafty writer. Don't you just enjoy it?
(note: I bait my brothers who root for UF and Miami the same way)
Not making fun of anyone, it's just passion, which 'ain't' bad.
