Dream Team? Time will tell if it is a reality for Prince Fielder and the Tigers

Dream team? They got two good hitters, one good pitcher, no speed, no bullpen, a bunch of overpaid wannabes and a sub 500 manager. More like dream on.

Not even close to a dream team, just can't believe how everyone, including you, Pat, are going ga-ga over this. Tigers will have glaring defensive and speed issues after this trade. Although probably in the top 5-7 teams in MLB.

People can argue about marijuana laws, but what they need to do is outlaw Koolaid in this town. Everybody's gone crazy on that stuff.

With a little luck the Tigs might
overcome their weaknesses on defense and win a World Series Championship, but the luck is essential. Pitchers Fielding Practice (PFP) didn't help in '06.! I would love it, and be happy for Mr. Illich. Tommie

  5. Pat, it will come down to pitching but with Fielder in the line-up, the pitching won't be used as much as JV and JV were running on fumes.

  6. Anonymous,
They have more than you're saying, in my opinion. Backend of the bullpen is very good, deep lineup, Porcello and Scherzer have an upside.

  7. Anonymous,
They have some strengths, too. But the premise of the column is that the Dream Team thing is not likely. So we're making the same point.

  8. Anonymous,
Tigers just signed one of the better hitters in baseball. Maybe Koolaid is in order.

  9. Barry,
It depends on whether the upside isn't offset by a possible downside defensively.

  10. Tommie,
The Tigers were going to be candidates to win a World Series anyway. We'll see if this puts them over the top.
