Despite Jack's heroics while in Toronto or even Minnesota, did it ever occur to you that he'd likely already be enshrined if he'd stuck with the Tigers until he hung them up? Loyalty meant more in the 80s than it does now. Perhaps the mercenary perception remains on some levels.....
Good try but a bit short, 68% and needed 75%. Only one year to go and I'm afraid he is finished. That's really too bad. Glavine coming in next year.

ReplyDeleteI believe voters are now adopting the Sabermetrics philosophy and measurements these days, stats first developed in large by Bill James.
On the other hand, even in Sabermetrics, voters are putting too much on Jack's high ERA. His WAR was a lot better.
